NWF President, Dr. Devin Stephenson

An Alabama native, Dr. Stephenson has extensive experience in community college executive administration. He served as President/CEO of Big Sandy Community/Technical College in Kentucky and Three Rivers College in Missouri prior to coming to NWF State College.  He has held a number of leadership positions within the Alabama Community College System, including Vice President of External Affairs and Dean of Students at Bevill State Community College, CEO of Snead State Community College and Dean of Students at Walker State Technical College.

Dr. Stephenson served as the Kentucky Community and Technical College System Liaison to SOAR (Shaping Our Appalachian Region), working with Congressman Hal Rogers and Governor Matt Bevin to transform the economy of the region.  He is a Commissioner on the American Association of Community Colleges’ Commission on Professional Development and Leadership and an experienced peer evaluator with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and the Higher Learning Commission. In December 2016, Dr. Stephenson was elected to the SACSCOC Board of Trustees. Most recently, he was selected to the Board of Directors for the Florida Association of Colleges and Universities (FAC&U) and the Steering Committee for the Florida College System Council of Presidents.

He earned an associate degree in science from Walker Junior College, followed by a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration from Birmingham-Southern College and both master’s and doctoral degrees in the Administration of Higher Education from the University of Alabama.

Dr. Stephenson and his wife, Judy, have two adult children, Jon and JuliAnne.

President’s Cabinet

Pauline Anderson
Dean of Institutional Research, Analysis, and Planning
Pauline Anderson is responsible for research and data analysis in support of institutional innovation and decision making. She promotes communication between internal college constituencies to determine and clarify data needs and research requirements. She is also responsible for coordinating the reporting of college data to state and federal agencies.
Dr. Scott Behrens
Vice President for Teaching and Learning
Dr. Behrens is the Vice President for Teaching and Learning, and serves as the chief academic and articulation officer of the college. Dr. Behrens received his Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Florida; his Master of Arts in Human Development/Educational Psychology from the University of Arizona; and his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Western Maryland College.
John R. "Jack" Capra
Executive Officer for Government Relations and Strategy
As Executive Officer for Government Relations and Strategy, Capra serves the college as the executive lead for local, state, and federal government affairs; legislative affairs; policy and external funding advocacy; official liaison to the military and veterans’ community; oversight and planning for all components of campus safety and security; reviewing attorney on contracts/MOU's, and other legal subjects.
Cristie Kedroski
Vice President of College Advancement
Cristie Kedroski is responsible for leadership and oversight of all functions assigned to the Office of College Advancement, including marketing and public relations, external fundraising, alumni relations, special events, scholarships and the NWF State College Foundation.
Randy White
Vice President of Administration/CFO
Randy White serves as the Vice President of Administration/Chief Financial Officer at Northwest Florida State College, a position he has held since 2014. White is responsible for college financial affairs, administrative services and safety. Before stepping into his role at NWF State College, White served as a Colonel in the United States Air Force.
Dr. Nathanial Slaton
Vice President of Student Success
Dr. Slaton has more than twelve years of experience in community colleges and higher education. He joins us from West Kentucky Community and Technical College where he served as the Vice President for Enrollment Management and Chief Student Affairs Officer.

Cole Allen
Chief Information Officer
Allen leads the college technology strategy and staff to ensure alignment with the institution’s vision and goals. Allen brings over 10 years of IT management experience in higher education, and has a proven track record in successful implementation of complex IT initiatives.
Anthony Boyer
Principal, Collegiate High School
Anthony Boyer is the Principal of the Collegiate High School at Northwest Florida State College, a position he has held since 2005.During his tenure, CHS has received National Blue Ribbon recognition in 2006 and 2011, earned an “A” in the Florida Accountability Program and placed in the top five percent of all high schools in the State of Florida in the Florida School Grading system from 2000-2015.
Carter Caywood
Executive Director of Student Success Navigation
Carter Caywood, a higher education professional with nearly a decade of experience, most recently worked in Alaska overseeing the new student outreach and admissions operations for both a private non-profit university and the state’s largest public university. He earned a Master of Education degree from Rockhurst University in Kansas City, and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from University of Central Oklahoma. Carter now lives in Fort Walton Beach with his wife, Stephanie, and their two children.
Jeremy Goss
Director of Professional & Workforce Training
As Director of Professional & Workforce Training, Jeremy serves the college and the community by overseeing the development and delivery of customized training courses for businesses and providing training for industry certifications. He has experience in building registered apprenticeship programs, business and training consulting and assisting companies with identifying funding for training. Before entering higher education, he served as an avionics instructor for the United States Air Force.
Stephanie Linard
Executive Director of Academic Records & Enrollment
Stephanie received her degrees from The University of Alabama, a B.S. in Commerce & Business Administration and a M.A. in Management. She has nine years of higher education experience, the last six within the Office of the University Registrar at The University of Alabama, with four of those serving as an Assistant University Registrar. Her background is rich in student services experience within higher education, including student records, transfer credit evaluation and process improvement. She is an Alabama native, originally from Blount County, Alabama.
Roberta Mackey
Director, Human Resources
Mackey has more than 20 years of experience in the human resources field, serving in both the private and public sector. In her position, Mackey oversees the human resources staff and operations including talent acquisition, employment processing, compensation, benefits and more. Mackey is also the Equity Officer for the college.
Stephanie Pettis, APR
Director, Strategic Communications
Stephanie Pettis, APR, has 17 years of experience, including strategic communications in the areas of higher education, business, and industry. Her work has been recognized by professional organizations such as the Alabama Community College System Public Relations Association, the Alabama Rural Electric Cooperative Communications Association, the Association of Florida Colleges, Florida Public Relations Association and the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR).
Ramsey Ross
Director, Athletics
During his tenure as Athletic Director, Ross has excelled at maintaining high standards set forth for the Raider Athletics Program. In addition to being amongst the most compliant two-year colleges in the NJCAA, and boasting incredibly high graduation and matriculation rates, the college enjoyed one of the most successful athletic seasons in the history of the National Junior College Athletic Association under Ross’ watch in the 2014-15 academic year.
Julie Schrodt
Executive Assistant to the President
Schrodt serves as the primary point of contact on all matters pertaining to the Office of the President; liaison to the Board of Trustees and senior management teams; organizes and coordinates executive outreach and external relations efforts; and oversees special projects. Schrodt previously served as the Donor Relations and Communications Coordinator for the College’s Foundation, where she was responsible for coordinating special events, increasing donor databases and maintaining contact with donors.
Dennis Sherwood
Dean of Technical Education
Dennis Sherwood serves as the Dean of Technical Education for Northwest Florida State College, a position he has held since 2013. Prior to working for NWF State College, Sherwood served in various roles at Gateway Technical College including Director of Aeronautics, Associate Dean, Dean of Trades and Industry, Director of Facilities and Director of Safety and Security.
Jeanette Shires
Director, Mattie Kelly Fine & Performing Arts Center
Jeanette Shires serves as the Director of the Mattie Kelly Fine & Performing Arts Center at Northwest Florida State College, a position she has held since 2013. She is responsible for all daily operations, budgeting and management for the center which is the Emerald Coast’s primary cultural venue. The center serves more than 80,000 patrons annually and generates $750,000 to $1 million in revenue each year.
Dr. Anne Southard
Dean of General Education and Online Learning
Dr. Southard is currently responsible for General Education, Online Learning, and Teacher Education at NWF State College. She initiated the Grants Department for the College, which was awarded $1.3 million in a consortium Department of Labor grant in 2012. Dr. Southard implemented four baccalaureate programs in Teacher Education, and she played key roles in the two most recent SACSCOC accreditations, as well as leading the College’s 2016 Aspen Award submission effort.
Dr. Aimee Watts
Executive Director of Financial Planning and Scholarships
Dr. Watts has previously served the college as Interim Dean of Students, Director of Student Life, Adjunct Instructor, Academic Advisor, Financial Aid Specialist, Admissions Specialist, and as a part-time Staff Assistant in Athletics. She received her bachelor’s degree in business management from Troy University, a master’s degree in management with an emphasis in leadership from Troy University, and both educational specialist and doctorate degrees in curriculum and instruction with a concentration in diversity studies from the University of West Florida. She is a member of the Niceville-Valparaiso Rotary Club where she serves as Membership Chair and a high school mentor for the Take Stock in Children scholarship program.
